Audio is the often-neglected part of most multimedia and video. Great images and animations deserve great audio. A memorable theme can have such a lasting impact that it should be considered an integral part of any project. The right sound effect emphasizes a point, not detracts from it. And clear audio is crucial for any voiceover.

Yet usually it's not until after the colours have been chosen, the images cleaned up and the delivery dates established, that the audio considerations are raised. But just as an image must be visually composed, a multimedia piece must be aurally composed. How does it flow? Where does it climax? Is there tension and release?

As a university graduate with a Bachelor of Music, Honors Performance, sound and music is always on my mind. "Seeing with my ears" is how I describe my approach. Where does the audio fit in? How will this change effect it? Has the mood changed? These are some of the questions I ask, as I apply my knowledge in the music field to my video and multimedia pieces. Whether it's composing original music, editing needle drops, doing a live recording or tweaking sound effects, I'll ensure the audio is not just an afterthought.
